The Hermetic Brotherhood of the Rose Cross

In one of their Hermetic fables, they leave a clue. The story begins with one of the brothers making some alterations to his building, turning his mind inwards, (turning turtle), so that he could begin the process. Soon, he finds a brass plate on which was inscribed the names of 'the Rosicrucian brothers and other things besides' ('brass' is indicative of the conscious mind, or to put it in another way, it can be the earth, live and neutral wires in an electric plug, i.e. a Tripod).

The brother decided to remove the plate to a more fitting place, but an *iron nail*, (the self-conscious identity), so deeply embedded that it required great force to dislodge it, causes a further stone behind the plate to become uncovered. This iron nail is an emblem of the 'nails' in Jesus's Crucifixion, and constitutes the great effort required to still the conscious mind, as symbolised by the brass plate and the stone. The displacement of the stone reveals a concealed vault, (which is the unappreciated power of the subconscious). And this vault is in three parts.

Of the upper part, it says, 'You shall understand no more of at this time.'

The three parts of this vault are identical to the Three compartments in the Tabernacle, or the Three sections of the Gothic cathedrals. In the centre of the vault, the tale continues, there is an altar, (centre of the mind), under which was found the body of Rosencreutz, (the inner knowledge). His perfectly preserved body, holds a Book in one dead hand, a word picture, (symbolizing the Memories retained by the unadulterated Subconscious, i.e. the Book of Life).
