British Shorelines
Part of the shelf that reaches out into the sea - shown here at low tide. Note the cracks that have been eroded by the waves.
Here the cracks that criss-cross the sea bed at Kimmeridge can be seen more clearly.
The cliffs that make an almost vertical ascent from the beach.
One of many fossils to be seen at Kimmeridge. Collecting fossils here has now been banned, to save further damage to the cliff faces and floor.
The cracks open up into timey rock pools, each containing an amazing amount of life. This crack is only about 3", or 10 cms, wide, and about five time that in length. There were periwinkles, a beadlet anemone, a snakeslock anemone, cockles and barnacles in there, as well as plant life. Return to Seashores
