Second Contact

THE BLACK SUN

Second Contact occurred at 12:25:31 local time.  The Black Sun appeared with its stunning corona.   The brightness of the corona has affected the colour of the pictures and in particular the blue tint.  This was a spellbinding sight which lasted a mere two minutes 17 seconds.  Was it worth the journey?  You bet it was!

My first picture of the total eclipse.

Venus was the only other object that we could see.  I feel that this picture captures quite accurately the sort of darkness we witnessed.

My last picture before the end of totality.  The diamond ring effect appears very close to the top right of the moon.
