| Le
Soleil Noir - The Black Sun -
is the best way to describe the staggeringly beautiful sight of a total
eclipse of the Sun. At least that's how what my brother-in-law and I agreed shortly
after experiencing the last total eclipse of the millennium from the small French town of
Vouziers on August 11th 1999.

| I had known about this total eclipse for
many years. Ever since witnessing a partial eclipse as a youngster in the 1960's it
had always been my intention to attempt to experience totality. Until recently I had
intended to do this from Cornwall but scare stories of gridlock and rip-off persuaded me
to seek a change of venue! |
On this
site I have attempted to capture this awesome natural event. It is
focussed around the pictures that I took during the eclipse. I hope that it will
prove a memory jogger to those who also witnessed the event, an inspiration to others to
seek out future total eclipses as well being an educational resource. |
How was it for you?

Guestbook to share your eclipse experiences or simple to leave your comments on this site! |
| It is fair to say that a considerable number of work
colleagues felt the trek to France for a two minute event to be rather mad. How
wrong they were as our group witnessed the experience of a lifetime! |

I hope you enjoy your visit!
