New Airline to start St-Hubert Flights...May 7th, 2000

A new airline called PASCAN Aviation has taken delivery of 2 Pilatus PC-12's and plan on starting a St-Hubert - Quebec City - Rimouski service. Wings Magazine says the airline will initially offer twice daily flights between the three cities. The start up date of the service is not mentioned, but this is taken from the Feb/March Wings Magazine and nothing has started yet. So hopefully the airline still has plans for Montreal's underdog airport. Although this is not mentioned in the article, the airline would most likely operate out of one of St-Hubert's FBO's.

P&WC gets new citation...May 7th, 2000

Pratt & Whitney Canada has taken delivery of a new Cessna Citation. The new Cessna Citation Excell is one of the first few of the production line and is registered C-FPWC serial number 560-5078. There is no word as to whether this new aircraft is to replace P&WC's older Citation or to compliment it. The aircraft has been seen at St-Hubert over the past week.

P&WC's second B720 back in North America...May 7th, 2000

Pratt & Whitney Canada's second Boeing B720 test-bed aircraft has returned to North America from Romania in the past month. The B720 landed at the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base in norther New York where Pratt & Whitney are starting up a new test center. So far the companies original B720 is remaining at St-Hubert. The second aircraft is painted in an odd orange/blue/siler colour. Hopefully the aircraft will make at least one visit to St-Hubert Airport to be shown to the St-Hubert maintenance staff.

Airlines considering St-Hubert...January 18th, 2000

A new Low Cost Carrier that is starting up out of Hamilton Ontario. They are looking at Montreal as a possible destination and are looking at all 3 of the cities airports as possabilities. Mirabel may not be much of a possability since it is so far from the city with not much of a catchment area. St-Hubert is a short drive from Downtwon (depending on traffic) and also has the catchment area of the South Shore. One draw back of YHU is that there is a weight limit on the South side of the airport so the airline, using B737's would not be able to use any of the FBOs. A small terminal would have to be built on the North side of the airport and the airline may not be willing to put that much money into St-Hubert with Dorval's Terminal open to it.

Other airlines are said to be looking at St-Hubert, but no names were mentioned. A possability is an airline like Air Montreal. They have recently built a Terminal at Dorval's General Aviation area. An airline of this type, which uses Emb Brasillia's, could start flights from St-Hubert.

More news on Windeagle...August 25th, 1999

As was said before, Windeagle Aircraft Corporation are now located in one of the old Base hangers. They will soon construct a 50 000-square-foot manufacturing facility to build the small turbo-prop aircraft. It is said to be build by December, although since construction has not yet started that date may be put back. So far, 41 firm orders have been achieved including 15 for the new turbo-prop version of the aircraft.

Since the begining of the base closure a few years ago, many of the hangers have found new tennants. The CIne Cite film production studios now take up a lot of the former air base. The Canadian Air Force still occupy several hangers on the airport grounds including the large main hanger that now houses the Wildcat Helicopter squadran.

Rare Visitor at YHU...August 25th, 1999

On the evening of August 25th a North American Airlines B757-200 visited St-Hubert Airport. It was the largest aircraft used on a sport charter since the operations were moved to St-Hubert. The flight brought the Cincinnati Reds baseball team in from Atlanta, GA. The Boeing B757 is a very rare visitor to YHU and was very nice to see.

Windeagle at St-Hubert...August 22nd, 1999

This news was actually announced a few months back, but getting facts on it has been difficult. A company called Windeagle are moving production of their small singe engined aircraft to St-Hubert Airport. They will be using one of the ex-Air Base hangers and eventually expanding by building another. The aircraft is a single engined trainer with great power due to it being equipped with a turboprop engine. They have several orders so far and hope to get more by promoting the aircraft as a possible Military trainer. It is not yet known when production of the first aircraft at St-Hubert is to begin.

Ciné Cité....August 22nd, 1999

Work continues on the Ciné Cité site. The frame work is up for the second of the two largest sound stages is up, but it doesn't look like things will be fully up and running by Labour day as was said originally. Hopefully the facility will be up and running not too long behind schedule.

More BizJets at FBO's...August 22nd, 1999

St-Hubert's FBOs have been seeing a rise in BizJet visits. Especially The Montreal Flying Club and Petro-T/Aerotaxi. Today, Sunday August 22nd, The Flying club handled a Gulfstream 2 , a Falcon 2000 of Exectjet, an Execair Challenger, a Delta Airlines Boeing B727-200 and a Trans World Airlines MD-83. Hopefully this trend will continue and more BizJet flights will use St-Hubert over Montreal Dorval.

St-Hubert appears in Wings Magazine....June 9th, 1999

In the recent issue of Wings Magazine there was a Canadian FBO round up. Giving info on all of Canada's FBO's. In it there was a small news brief on The Montreal Flying Club and how they are now servicing the Sport and Musician Charters into Montreal. There were also a few photos in the Magazine from St-Hubert. Firstly a photo of the Avtech FBO hanger (old Intair hanger) with the ITT Technologies B737-400 out front. Also, there was a photo of the Petro-T/Aerotaxi FBO with a Global Express being serviced out front still in it's Primer colours.

Sport Hawk returns to St-Hubert...June 9th, 1999

Sky Service/Sport Hawk are once again being serviced by Avtech FBO this year instead of the usual Montreal Flying Club servicing. Due to the weight of the aircraft.

New Film Studios at St-Hubert Airport...March 30th, 1000

Today was the public announcement of the opening of the Ciné Cité Montréal. 5. Film and Photo Studio (7500 sq. feet)
  6. Wardrobe Department
  7. Costume Cleaning
  8. Carpentry Department
  9. Production Office
  10. Administrative Offices

  12. Transport Building

This film studio is well suited for film stars such as John Travolta, who can fly in on their private aircraft and park right at the studio. As well as shooting scenes involving aircraft.
The studio is now seeing limited use and will be fully functional by Labour Day of this year.
