Other places to stay in Rye and area

I'm a huge fan of Malcolm Saville the children's author since a very young age . As a child I thought the Mermaid Inn was the Gay Dolphin but he only used the bridge and archway in a few books ,However to fit the geography the most perfect building is Hope Anchor Hotel as the storylines which look directly towards Winchelsea and the River , I've got 2 books with his signature in and have every book he wrote even though some are sadly only paperbacks , strangely in the mid 80's my husband & I ventured to Winchelsea and by luck we found MS's last address , we photo'd his home and I had a chat to his housekeeper , it felt wonderful as she actually spent a lot of time with the family , I hope to get my photo's scanned onto the website for all to see
It's so strange how my mother up to now can remember me as a little girl dashing off to local library to look for the magic lone pine books, my elser sister actually still reads MS on cold winter nights .
