| A Message from our Patron:
Welcome to this production of THE GONDOLIERS. The most tuneful of the Gilbert and Sullivan Operas, I am sure you will enjoy this production by the talented Uplands Arts. Congratulations to the society on their Golden Jubilee Year, and how proud I am to be associated with such a first class Company. Thank you for your kind support and I wish you a very happy evening. A Message from our President:
In 1943 a young boy with blond hair was asked by a certain J.W. Barlow if he would like to take part in 'The Mikado' for the then Brynmill & Uplands Youth Club, and here I am 49 years later, still associated with the club or Uplands Arts as it is now known. I am very happy to be President in what is a memorable year for the society. Many people besides myself have worked very hard for the good of Uplands Arts over the years and it is to them that this show is dedicated. To all the old freinds coming to the show this
week and to you the audience a great big thank you for your support over
the years.

Chairman's Message:
May I welcome everyone, past and present members, to our 50th anniversary celebrations. I have very fond memories of my time in Uplands Arts when Mrs. Reggie Morgan (Auntie Lil) and Mr. Jim Barlow were in charge. I feel sure that they would be very pleased with the way the Society has tried to maintain traditional Gilbert & Sullivan in Swansea. I am looking forward to a very exciting week - particularly meeting old friends who are coming from various parts of the country to join in our celebrations . I would like to thank our patrons who faithfully support us, we couldn't go on without you. I hope you all enjoy our performance of 'The Gondoliers' and we look forward to our Diamond Jubilee. ANNE THOMAS
