Death...

WORK IN PROGRESS

'Death...' is the story of eight friends who die in a car accident and are quickly whisked off to heaven to experience supreme bliss before two of the group are unwillingly brought back on the operating table to face the by now unbearable prospect of having to live and wait for their chance to return.

Not to give anything away, but the remaining characters- sworn enemies from the beginning- begin to long for death so much that they begin to make plans to meet the reaper early, but things do not turn out quite how they seem...

'Death...' is an abundantly vivid, often touching and always devilishly black humoured take on the whole heaven and hell, life and death, 'hell is other people' idea.

Many issues are brought up including suicide and the morality thereof, friendship, loss, longing and why you should live each day as if it was your last.

The main characters; intermittently plauged by what they percieve to be the ghosts of their lost freinds and the prospect of having to wait a lifetime before experiencing the luxuries of heaven, are sombre and synical respectively, but have one thing which binds them.

Darkly comic, death and the afterlife are joked and messed around with- both the old cliches and highly artistic renditions of the alternative destinations human beings are scheduled to end up in recieving a mixture of satire and colorful, dreamily surreal treatment; humourous though dark natured scenes provided with the likes of bizzarly botched suicide attempts and a courtroom scene where God presides over Jesus' attempt to file an amendment concerning where suicides go after death, with the devil opposing.

The characters are flung onto a twist ridden rollarcoaster journey through life, death and what lies beyond, finally coming to an understanding of the whole process which they really should have taken heed of in the beginning.
