Attending a Wedding at Tynecastle (guest appearance by The Scottish Cup ...)

One of the boys recently got married at Tynecastle (on the pitch) and had the reception in the Gorgie Suite. It was a really good wedding, beforehand I'd thought it might be a bit tacky but it wasn't at all. All the guests (fans) were in the seats in the enclosure (the seats were quite dirty - that was a bit off as we all had our posh gear on), and only the wedding party were on the pitch. It was a religious ceremony but there were no hymns, might have been a bit weird singing non-Hearts songs at Tynecastle. Hearty Harry came to visit the groom before the bride appeared. The minister was quite funny - he certainly seemed over awed with being at Tynecastle. It really is an impressive place to have a wedding, and when the old stand is replaced it will be awesome. We were all still on a high from the cup final and felt very privileged to be in there.

After the ceremony most folk headed off to the Gorgie Suite for a drink but we all hung about as the groom (Craig) had arranged for photos with the Scottish Cup for all the boys in kilts and for the 9 of us that go to the games together. The boys were like wee bairns when they got onto the pitch, running around like wee laddies pretending they were playing football with McCann and the like. We took loads of photos of us on the pitch and in the dug out and stuff. It was great, then Craig came out with the cup, he'd signed the marriage certificate in the home dressing room then had his photo taken with his wife at his side, his daughter on one knee and the cup on the other. Once he brought the cup onto the pitch there were a series of photos with it and various members of the wedding party and guests. The Scottish Cup featured in about 75% of the official photographs apparently, so the wedding wouldn't suit a bride who absolutely hated football. Craig had joked before the wedding that he was going to shove his wife into the trophy cabinet and marry the Scottish Cup.

The Gorgie Suite was good but the hydraulic steps weren't working which is really the main attraction of having a function in there and that was a shame. Didn't get a chance to sample the cuisine from Hearts as Craig done his own buffet (he's a chef), but it was a good evening. My boyfriend Murray, and another boy were shown into the security room and they said it's frightening that they can zoom in on any seat really close up. When they were up there, there were people milling about on the pitch and they were shouting things (like to the bride - "Julie, you're not wearing any knickers") etc.

Of course the Hearts song was played later on and it was good, jumping about. Murray and I sat on the seats in the Gorgie stand with our drinks watching the sun go down and thinking what a great place it was to be ...

This is us on the pitch with the Scottish Cup (obviously I'm the female one),
We're all potential managers
We're pretending we're the managerial team shouting at the players (apart from Derek at the end who is posing).
The Scottish Cup at Tynecastle - heavenly
The boys on the pitch with the Scottish Cup, oh aye, there's a bride in there as well !

Hospitality at Tynecastle

These photos was taken after the friendly with Coventry earlier this season. Murray and I were there as guests of Hearts, we managed that through Scott Wilson, he runs the Hearts 30 Club (30 people from the Hearts website who donated money to sponsor a players kit, this season it was Neil McCann - traitor). There was a draw for who should receive the prize and I was lucky enough to win it. We had a great day, great food & drink, game was ever so boring unfortunately, got to see the cup (again .....). The 2nd photo is at the game and I've highlighted Lockie carrying the cup as it's not exactly obvious what it is !!

Motherwell Trips

There are a few guys who go to the games with us that are from Motherwell, so once a year when we play Motherwell away, we do the corporate meal thing (get suited up) and go along with 20-25 Motherwell fans, it's a great day out (and much cheaper than doing that at Tynecastle I can tell you !!). The last time we done it we met a few of the players in the lounge after it.

The next time we do the corporate thing is THIS Saturday (24 April 1999) so there will a report on that if anything exciting happens.

Caley Swally

A Caley Swally is a name for a piss-up basically ! It is when a lot of the people from the Hearts Kickback chat page meet up in the Caley Sample Room before/after a home page and get very drunk. There have been 3 'official' Swally's so far and the next one is planned for the 15th May 1999, Hearts v Dundee United.

It is a good chance to put faces to names and also good to see that not all the people who communicate via the Internet are total anoraks.

Hearts Quiz Night

Leading on from the Caley Swally's - recently there was a quiz night at Tynecastle (in the Gorgie Suite) and a few of the Caley Swally-ers went along to represent the Hearts 30 Club (those of us from the Hearts chat page who had paid to sponsor Neil McCann's away kit until he p*ssed off to the Cream Buns).

Basically we didn't do very well (mid-table oblivion), but we didn't come last. My husband, Murray, won a signed Hearts ball in the raffle. It was just another excuse to get drunk. We got official photos with the Scottish Cup - and also some unofficial ones which I plan to put up here soon.
