Air Charter

This is a nice gem of a game and we always enjoy playing this one. The game has some nice little aeroplane tokens which you use to move around the board. The board depicts an area of Australasia over which is laid a grid of air lanes connecting a number of airfields. Fuel gauges both govern movement and how much freight a plane can carry. Carrying 1-5 units of fuel let you carry 3 freight units whereas 11-15 units of fuel only leave room for 1 freight unit. 1 unit of fuel costs £10 and 1 unit of fuel is used for each spot on the die.
The game consists of drawing a freight card and then attempting to make that run, payment being made upon completing it. As you need an exact roll of the dice to land at airfields, you often end up having to circle an airfield, running out of fuel means you have to make an emergency landing! The full game, basically adds the Incident cards, which add an assortment of hazards to the game, such as storms, head wind, tail wind, etc. Additional freight rules and competing for cargoes adds to the interest as well as adding fuel-supply franchises.

SUMMARY:
The game works nicely and has much in common with the later 'Empire Builder' crayon series of games. If you can pick this up on E-Bay or at a sale, it is a worthy addition to any collection.
