This game is worth buying for the pieces alone. Not to mention thats its designed by Alan R Moon, one of the great boardgame designers. This game has a beautiful board with lots of wooden cubes. Players are attempting to rebuild a section of a city. Players have a set of cards which are of 3 types, plus they are also used to buy in the auctions held during the game. You want to place your buildings in such a way that you control districts. In order to control any one of the 12 districts, you need to have the most number of 'floors' in that district. So if Tom has a 1 and a 3, then Anne has a 2 and a 3, Anne wins the controls the district with 5 'floors.' The catch is that a player may only play a building if it is the same height or one higher than the highest building in that district. The auctions add enhancements to a district: Fountains - bonus points Amphitheatres - draw more cards Temples - double the points This is a good strategy game that is played in 60-90 minutes.
