The answer is yes. The game is a race a against the clock to explore the dungeon of an old castle, with the ultimate aim of finding the dragons lair in the centre and stealing from it's horde. Not too hard, except you've got to get back out again before sunset.
With plenty of nasties trying to kill you along the way and plenty of traps, the path is far from easy.
Well okay, so far the game sounds okay, but can the game vary enough from game to game to hold interest?
Again the answer is yes. The game board is based on a tile system, ensuring variety and with several characters available, the chances of two games being EXACTLY the same is practically nil :-)
So has this game got any interesting add-ons?
Again, this is a yes. Games Workshop produced two expansions, one of which, 'Heroes for Dungeonquest' introduced 13 new characters.
The other expansion was 'Dungeonquest Catacombs' which effectively added a dungeon level to the game.
So with with a glowing review like this, there can't possibly be any bad points, can there?
Sadly, the answer is once more a yes :'o(
The fact that the whole game is against the clock makes it almost impossible to get to the centre and back out again in time, especially if the random tile system is not playing fair with you. Also, with the players starting in the four corners of the castle, it is very rare they actually interact with each other.
SUMMARY:
Though I like games with lots of parts, this game as hundreds, especially with the add-ons, making it take ages to set up a game that is usually over in no time at all.
All in all, this is enjoyable game, lovely to play etc. But in the end it just doesn't work for me.
Score: 74/100
