Publisher's Description:

Spanish Main is a game of seafaring, exploration and naval combat set in the Elizabethan Age. It is suitable for from 2 to 6 players and the objective is to gain as much wealth as possible by treasure seeking and general skulduggery. These activities involve an element of luck, as in real life, but success in this game depends mostly on tactical planning and sailing abilities and these are very much a matter of skill.

Players may choose between two sides, English and Spanish. All players compete with each other but open hostilities are limited to those on opposing sides. The Spaniards start first and they also have more money and a quicker route to the Main. Further, they are allowed bigger ships and they can sail faster in a strong wind. From this you might suppose that they would win easily but this is not necessarily the case!
