Rule Amendments
3.3 Players may not lend each other money
5.61 On arriving on the Main by way of 'Land Ho!', the chosen tile is explored immediately (ie turned face-upwards) and the ships turn ceases. On arriving on the Main by way of Landfall the chosen tile is already explored and, the ship having just moved, no further exploration is possible in that turn (Ref 5.8). Note that a ship lucky enough to find a treasure chest at 'Land Ho!' may load the chest and a ship arriving on a tile containing a hostile ship (*or Fort) will be immediately involved in battle according to the usual rules (5.83, 7.21)
5.84 Ships may not carry treasure or cannon on behalf of other players.
5.86 Returning from the Main
When a ship wishes to sail from the Main and return to the TOC it must first move to a tile on the Main, (unless it is already on one). (As with arriving on the Main, the tile chosen must be on the original edge; not a tile which has since been exposed by a 'blank space' (5.81)). Once on the edge of the Main, the ship marker may be placed on the TOC at Homeward Bound in the players next turn.
In Part One of a turn in which the player is going to sail from the Main, he makes his sailing cards up to a total of 3 as described in Ref 5.3. Modifiers are NOT counted in this case; the player is entitled to 3 Functional Cards. (Otherwise a player holding a Modifier would become short-handed in the turn after sailing). Players can reveal the number of Modifiers they hold by showing the BACKS of their cards.
5.91 Two silver pieces is the maximum interest that can be earned per player per turn.
Explanations
3.1 The white areas of tiles are sea.
3.7 Ship markers for use on the Main are identified by a letter (not number). Spanish ships are A to E, while English ships are H to L
3.9 The self-adhesive tabs which include both a number and a letter need to be cut into two before use.
3.10 Numbers 1 to 5 are English Forts; 6 to 9 are Spanish Forts.
5.81 The 'blank spaces' left where tiles will not fit may not be used unyil tiles are placed in them. A ship may not enter or cross a blank space or an unexplored tile. A tile which is placed illegally (1.2) may not be used in either movement or treasure collection. It is the players responsibility to ensure that all tiles used in a move are legal. If this is over-looked the move must be replayed if possible; otherwise it is forfeit.
5.62 Ship Ahoy. If the challenger declines action but receives damage from the challenged, as previously described, the action still ceases immediately. The challenger does not strike colours (5.74) should he be unable to take the required damage.
5.84 Loading Treasure. In cases where treasure is being collected from an adjacent tile, the shore party may not set off until the tile depicting the treasure has been laid. There must then be an interval of one full round of play before they can return.
