Folk music session at the "Black Bull", Edgworth.

On the first Monday of each month there is a folk music session at the "Black Bull" in Edgworth. The session starts at about 8.45, and all styles of folk music, whether contemporary or traditional, are very welcome.

The session has been going for about 4 years now and was started by a small group of us from the village who were interested in folk music, but has now expanded to include quite a number of singers and musicians from further afield. There are usually around 10 - 12 musicians and singers and we each take it in turn to choose a song or set of tunes. The atmosphere is informal and no money is taken "at the door", though all donations to the performers beer fund are gratefully received!

If you would like to come along you would be made very welcome, particularly if you would like to contribute musically. If you need directions to Edgworth (which is four miles or so to the north of Bolton in the West Lancs moors) feel free to give me a ring on 01204-852989.

With a bit of luck a picture or two should appear hear some time in the near future, when I have mastered the technology - a big proviso I admit.

Here are some addresses for other folk sites in the North-west that I have come across - hyperlinks soon folks. Steve Henderson (who runs charity concerts in the Preston / Leyland area) has a site at www.bigfoot.com/~stevehenderson. Also well worth a look is www.folking.com .
