"OLD CONTEMPTIBLES".
World email diplomacy team homepage.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVE MOVED TO Brian Frew's Pages. See you there gang.

"Old Contemptibles" are a British team competing in the world email diplomacy tournaments. For details on last year's tournament itself see the tournament site at www.worldmasters99.diplomacy.org.uk. We have just signed up to the new tournament for 2000/2001. The team will be as follows...

Austria: John Colledge
England: Dave Wreathall
France: Guy Thomas
Germany: Brian Frew
Italy: Mick Haytack
Russia: Steve Jones
Turkey: John Wilman

The website for this year's tournament is at worldmasters2000diplomacy.org.uk. This tournament is due to kick off on the 1st of October - so expect some news soon.

At Toby's request I have replaced him on the team with Dave. It seems that the man might have a committment in some final or other! Anyway I am sure that Dave will be a very able replacement. Toby has still volunteered to help with acting as a sub if needed. John - he has particularly asked to be called up to rescue your position if required!!

1999 Tournament Results

"OLD CONTEMPTIBLES FINISH IN THE PRIZES!!"

The results are in for the team tournament. The overall winners were:-

1. Stan's Also Rans. 270 pts
2. Armchair Diplomats. 255 pts
3. Magnificent 7. 191 pts
Old Contemptibles finished 6th with 163 pts.

This was an excellent result out of 79 teams, particularly given the fact that most of us had never played by email before.

The team scored as follows: Outright 1st places - John Colledge and Guy Thomas. 2nd place - Steve Jones. 3rd place - Mick Haytack. 4th place - Brian Frew. Eliminated Simon Bouton and Shaun Derrick.

We have won some prizes for this splendid effort. Each player will get a Hasbro interactive computer game and 4 starter decks of Babylon 5 collectible card games. (No - I don't know either!!). We have to organise postage etc - Emeric has told me the stuff is on its way back from WorldDipCon.

In the semi-finals, Guy seems to have been out of luck but Toby Harris, looks like getting 18 and into the final. A fine effort.

Cheers, Brian
