CTN Made State Religion by Siren

Dantier Island once again is the site of much activity this season.  This time the activity benefits the population.  The Siren has proclaimed the Coastal Temple of Narikja to be the official state religion of Siren's Realm.  This comes as no surprise, since the CTN is already the only organized religion operating in the region.  The druids of Erik have made no protest to this move, perhaps comfortable in their revered position among all the people of Rjurik.  As part of the celebration, the Siren and High Priestess Destrina broke the ground for a new temple on the island, located on the coast near the very caves which provided shelter from the storm last season.

Ward Challenges worship of Sera in Rujurik Lands.

After the resent expansion of CJS in the Giantdowns the ward has become concerned that the worship of Sera could lead to the destruction of the forests in the area and that there influence might spread  to other Rujurik lands.  To alleviate there concerns Temais Coumain sent his chief lieutenant Shari Valden who spent an entire month meeting with veriouse members of the Ward. Her message was as follows.

“Sera is the god of Luck as well as wealth and she believes that people make there own luck. By preserving the forests of the north the Rjurik people have done just this. You now have a vast resource in your forests made even more precious by the destruction of vast areas of forest in other parts of Cerilia. It is vital to the long term economic stability of the Rujurik lands that you continue to protect your forests.”

While the members of the Ward did not feel that there concern where complete satisfied they are now willing to wait and see what influence CJS is going to have on the lands they have long called their home.

Guilders, Brigands, and Monsters...Oh My!!

A reporter of the Argus was saved by the Thane of Talinie this season, as the traveling writer was caught in a bloody ambush.  Constant reports of raids in Freestead by the Army of Talinie, brought the Great Thane out to investigate personally.  The excitement of the arrival of the Regent led the reporter to follow the Thane.

Elven scouts led the Thane and his army of Elven Infantry and Elven Archers, to the rolling hills of Stathcarron, the same village where the reports began.  Upon arrival, the Thane’s men came upon a small contigent of makeshift warriors, in the colors of Talinie, but not in Talinie issued armor or weapons.

The Thane was able to ambush the unsuspecting group of brigands with low casualties.  Among the prisoners taken were the gold plundered and shipment crates with the brand seal of the Guild of Storm Holtson.

The Destructive nature of the Chimaera

Whilst we were unable to track the Chimaera to her final destination, there seems plenty of anecdotal evidence to suggest she currently resides within the Spiderfell.  This reporter is not about to enter such a den to verify the reports, but soldiers from several human units in surrounding provinces claim to have sighted the awnshegh.

We can only speculate as to the reason these two fell creatures have met, but there seems little in such a meeting to inspire hope for the region.

Inter-racial Peace Treaty

This season, an amazing piece of History was written, when Thrakazz the Scarlet Baron (SB) and Fulgar the Bold (FB) from Rjurik met face to face to sign a peace and co-operation treaty between their Realms. The bloodthirsty orogs and goblins from the Blood Skull Barony and the courageous human people from Rjurik cheered in one voice, as feathers described curves in that sacred piece of parchment.

It is said that, after the treaty was signed, Thrakazz addressed the audience with a guttural voice “Let it be know all around the world that one goblin Lord is as capable of living up to his promises as a human one! Co-operation among different races  is possible! We will prove it to you!” Having said that, he grabbed a dagger and made a cut in his own forearm to mark the moment, in good old goblin tradition.  We shall see how will this event influence Cerillia’s future...

In The Shadow Of The Spiderfell

The Lord of the Spiderfell, Tal-Quazar was seen upon the borders of the province of Tireste early this season by the massed troops of Alamie.  At his side were a number of the infamous spidermages that now dwell within the fells dark depths.  The Spiderlords voice amplified by magic was heard to announce ‘ Your acts of aggression against the Spiderfell have doomed your lands, know this you may have struck the first blow but the final one will be mine’.

The soldiers reported that the Spiderlords eyes flashed with green light and they began sighting what appeared to be a shadow spreading across the land.  Dark clouds gathered over the province of Tireste and the clouds formed into the shape of a giant arachnid.  Soon it was all too obvious what was happening as millions of venomous spiders swarmed from the spiderfell across the land.  The proud warriors of Alamie began to flee as this wave of spiders descended towards them and into the towns across the province, some of the more valiant warriors among Alamies forces tried to hold there ground, but how can you stop millions of spiders going where they please?.  Luckily for Duke Alam much of his army stood their groundin the province and several units were dispatched to quell the panicing mobs, and re-establish peace amongst the citizenry.

Advances in Mhowe

It seems a recent campaign by the Council of Leaders to attract new settlers to their province has met at least partial success.  Several caravans with young families recently arrived in the Chimaeron’s most populous province, Mhowe, with a view to permanently settling there.

While far from a burgeoning metropolis, it is hoped the newly enlarged population of Mhowe will assist the realm in reaching newfound financial stability.  Both local traders and religious leaders applauded the moves, no doubt counting on the new families to improve their own prosperity.

Religeous Uncertainty In Endier

Upon further investigation into the priest trying a coup in Endier last season it turns out that the priest is innocent as he was framed by some unknown organization who is spreading lies and controversy which only made relations between WIT and CJS more difficult.  This is a great relief for the Archprelate of WIT as he was worried that CJS may be up to something which would only spell disaster between the two faiths as they share most of the temple influence together.  Now that this matter is cleared up said the Archprelate we can get down to business that has had to wait far too long.

War In Urga-Zai (Part 1)

Fighting broke out in Urga-Zai recently when the armies of Khurin-Azur marched across the border and attacked.  The forces of Lluabraight attacked another province of Urga-Zai later that week.  Thanks to military aid from Ohlaak the dwarven forces were repelled, but the armies of the elves managed to push back the goblins and occupy a province.  Could this mark the end of the dispute between Khurin-Azur and lluabraight?  The elves have refused to deal with the darves for centuries and now they fight the same war.

Witch Hunt In Stjordvik

In the province of Hollenvik, in Stjordvik, a mob formed in the village and circled one of the houses. Arriving on the scene, lawman Guthrim was informed that the woman living in the house was accused of having cast a curse that caused a little boy to die. After meeting with the woman and the family of the victim, Guthrim decided she wasn't a witch and ordered his men to disperse the crowd.  This sort of behavior has been increasing in stjordvik of late.  The residents appear to fear magic more than the rest of Rjurik.

Justice In The Five Peaks

Duke Daeric Alam has demanded that The Eyeless One’s Lieutenant Langhorn Blackheart be delivered to him to stand trail for crimes against the kingdom of Alimie for his the role he played in attacking in attacking the Duke’s kingdom.  Thomas Stark the new leader of the Five Peaks said that he would be happy to turn Blackheart over to the people of Alimie but, Blackheart was killed when he took over the Five Peaks.  Daeric Alam was said to be happy with that announcement.  Stating that “Justice had finally been done”.

Disagreement In Rjuvik

Recently in the court of Fulgar the Bold, a court official returned from the far province of Sjarkhoelle, on his horse bound and severely beaten.  It seems that Najral, jarl of Sjarkhoelle, has become affronted by Fulgar’s newly renewed interest in the goings-on in Rjuvik, and did not take well to intrusions on his business.  He claimed Sjarkhoelle to be his and his only, and declared that from this day on to no longer be a part of Rjuvik.

Going against his natural compunctions towards such traitorous acts, he calmed his wrath, lowered his sword, and heeding the advise of the druids for the need for peace in his lands, he agreed to travel and meet Najral to discuss his woes and hopefully come upon a non-violent conclusion.

Najral, who was prepared for an attack, had formed a barricade in his guildhouse and hired a crew of mercenaries for defence.  He was surprised to meet not an army but a small band, headed by Fulgar himself, and rather than laden with weapons, they came laden with gifts.  The talks ran for many hours, and with the help of the druids never rose to the height of violence.  Impressed with the sensible, though always rough words ofFulgar, Najral agreed to relent on his threats and reassert his loyalty to his chief.  The day ended in celebration and the festivities and ale ran heavily into the night.

Boeruine Losing Sanity?

The archduke's recent appearances in the court have left many of his fellow regents speechless.  He claims that he has designed a master plan, yet most regents currently think that he's either allied to the Gorgon or a babbling idiot. Only time can tell which is true.

Unforseen Boon 'Rises' Out of Storm

The Siren and her major domo, Birkenhead made a tour of Dantier Island this season.  Having heard of a ship which had resurfaced near the village of Halstatt, the two made their way west along the coast.

Birkenhead later told reporters that the adventure went well, but that the Siren was a bit worn and wouldn't sit for any interviews at this time.  When questioned more carefully, Birkenhead revealed that the old wreck was being used as a sort of lure by a band of Kuo-Toa.  After scouting the situation, the Siren sent Birkenhead to Halstatt to round up all the fishing boats and able-bodied men and women he could.  Meanwhile the Siren had actually entered the wreck to begin the confrontation.

The villagers made short work of the few stragglers who emerged from the wreck, but Birkenhead became worried when the Siren herself did not immediately surface.  She was found and treated at the village and is now out of danger.  A large treasure was found in the wreck and Kuo-Toa stronghold, estimated by Andien & Sons at over 10,000 Sea Eagles.  Needless to say, the village of Halstatt got a new fishing fleet.  The rest of the treasure will be used to improve the realm, says Birkenhead.

Jugears A Spy?

Due to suspisions that he was getting spied on Guilder Kalien recently dedicated his time to questioning the members of his court.  He believed that someone was leaking copies of his communications to The Gorgon.  Upon investigation it appears that his lieutennant Jason Jugears was doing this.  In the past he had been a lieutennant for Daenel Roesone and Guilder Kalien had employed him after Daenel ran away.  It would appear that Mr Jugears caught wind of these investigations as when the guards went to look for him he had also ran away.  He has been sighted on occasion on a general northward path.  Guilder kalien has a reward out for his capture.

Riots In Dhoesone

Disturbances were reported in Dhoesone again.  For days people were seen fighting each other in the streets in broad daylight.  Some of the more seriously injured were taken in by villagers for treatment as the victors fled and disappeared into the horizon.  Many bystanders were shocked and children were hurried back into their homes. Some houses were razed at night and residents nearby were forced to evacuate to safety. We do not know why these violent incidents occurred but Lady Kudar and Clumine Dhoesone did not hesitate to look into the incident.  Within days, guards were dispatched to keep the people safe and Clumine, along with his lieutenants, approached the trouble causers home and was seen entering with a letter or some sort in his hand.

Later in the week Clumine made an announcement to the general public in Dhoesone:

“To all good citizens of Dhoesone.  I have had discussions with the trouble causers.  They were True Blood and this short chaotic spree has been ended.  The man I spoke to told me some of their followers deviated from them and tried to attack the elven population without reason.  These people are now in the Nolien jail waiting for trail.

The True Bloods motives have been recognised throughout Anuire as elf hating, but I see people in fear, traumatised by their childhood experiences of mistreatment.  Every race should show some degree of understanding and a desire for peace, especially at these crucial times.”

Houses have started to be rebuilt and justice sought.  The True Blood in Dhoesone agreed to keep away from the elven population and seem to be comfortable with Clumine’s negotiation terms.  There have been no more known incidents of attacks since.  This may have been linked by the recent freeing of the captives in Rhuobhe but at the moment our reporters are not sure of the situation.  Also rumours say that some of the True Blood were planning for an attack on the Aelvenwode.

Infiltrators in Diemed

Apparently a small cell of agents have attempted to take moneys from the guild holding in the province of Bliene in Diemed.  This unknown organization has caused a loss of income for the Royal Dieman Guild’s vast network of holdings and Bobby Jo Diem hastily responded to this previously undetected presence.  The perpetrators were caught were sending this loss of funds to some source elsewhere to some unknown organization that is yet to be traced.  It seemed too easy that these agents were caught giving suspicion that this was only a cover operation for some shady organization.  Bobby Jo stated that the search has only just begun for the center of operations for this group and will not stop until found.

Rhuobhe Attempts Peace

Rhuobhe Manslayers Elves have been spotted around many realms of Anuire placing posters regarding the True Blood.Seemingly in an attempt to meet with them to discuss the current crisis and possibly organise a truce.  Apparently in an address to his people Rhuobhe stated,

‘Our brothers are dying all over Anuire, these attacks must stop.  Whoever is responsible for these attacks,  does not understand the implications of their actions.  Before events outrun themselves I will speak to these individuals, and come to some agreement.  I have offered the hand of diplomacy, I hope the ‘True Blood’ accept my invitation before it is too late.’

Battle in Mur-Kilad

With the province of Crushing rock now under the control of the Patriarch Emilio there was sure to be a strong battle to regain the province. To guard against this the Patriarch marched in even more troops and even mustered together troops from the population of crushing rock. With his preparations complete the Patriarch was happy with his defence and thought himself ready for the coming counter attack.

It was soon after this that the province fell under a ward limiting the movement of troops. Soon after this the dwarven army of Mur-Kilad marched into the province. The Elinian troops in the province did not seem at all worried as a force half their size came forward. It was as the Dwarves charged that disaster struck. With the oncoming dwarves charging, around half of the Patriarchs army turned upon the other half; only the Patriarchs archers and Dwarven units seemed immune to the madness. With the orders clear that there would be no retreat for both sides the battle raged for most of the day. When the battle finally did end only those troops that had turned on their allies remained, as the wards had stopped the Elinian army retreating. They then quickly marched from the province of crushing rock and into the Sielwode where they fought another battle against troops flying the banner of Hermedhie.  This was a much shorter battle and only a few casualties occurred.

Disaster Strikes Caelcorwynn Island

Disaster strikes GTL again this month. A period of heavy rain in Caelcorwynn Island resulted in flooding of their temple there, which is (inconveniently) situated by the river. The temple was not severely damaged but the floods caused a deterioration of the surrounding environment and obviously the priests denied to conduct the services in room filled with water to a height of about 30 centimetres! Prelate Aerun Valch seeing as for a second term distraction strikes one of their temples decided it was time to suggest a course of actions that should be undertaken every time something similar happens. A decree came out only a day after the event entitled “General List of Actions to counter Disasters” (G.L.A.D.). According to this all priests and servants in all GTL temples around Anuire should follow a minimum training in order to know how to act when facing floods, earthquakes, lava flows, hailstorms and other natural disasters. Training has already begun, supervised by Aerun’s lieutenants. People in GTL gloat how now they are the best equipped to face any short of disaster in all of Anuire, but this reporter rather believes in actions, not words and awaits for a test of the G.L.A.D. plan.  Apparently they have no intention of apologising for the shameless use of a bad acronym.  Have they been influenced by Prince Minkwood, Founder of C.o.M.E.?

Festival In Taeghas

The annual Festival of HrudHouger is currently taking place in Taeghas. Given special relevence this year, as it is exactly 600 years since the miraculous happenings in Wilders Gorge which the festival celebrates. During a decvastating earthquake, not a single building in the village of K’Tinkh was even damaged; the local priest, a follower of Nesirie, prayed all the way through the ‘quake, and at the end, when the villagers came to find him, he had vanished completely, leaving only his prayer beads and a hat. They believed, and so do the followers of Nesirie everywhere, that the goddess intervened, and then took the priest to his eternal reward early.

This has since become a Taeghan festival of thanksgiving, named for the priest in question. Heigh Keeng has spent 4000 gold pieces on the festival this year – more than ever before. He also declared a three day festival holiday, so that businessescomplained of a lack of trade and production. They needn’t have worried; the people were so happy to celebrate for so long, the lost production was more than made up for before the festival started.

Mhoried Invasion Of Markazor Continues

The troops of The Mhor inside Mhoried have occupied another two provinces and the Gorgon has yet to do anything about this.  He appears to have kept his word when announcing them to be a free and independent people.  However, just to be sure the world is safe for people to live in peace and happiness the armies of the Mhor continue to destroy holdings within the borders of Markazor.

Caine’s Confusing Communications

Communications around the source holding in The Spiderfell are making little sense and this has become a concern throughout Caine’s Domain.  This loss in communication corresponds to the fallout from the chaos of battle.  Caine launched an investigation into why the information coming from The Spiderfell was making no sense and dispatched Damian disguised to blend into The Spiderfell’s populace.

Upon arriving in The Spiderfell, Damian discovered that House Harko, a family who has always been sympathetic to the Spider and House Arroyo, strong supporters of Caine, have broken out in open warfare over disagreements involving the actions Caine has taken there.  Feeling that the Spider will seize the source and kill all that remain loyal to Caine, House Harko planned to openly side with the Spider and allow free access to the source.  House Arroyo discovered this deception when they choose to intercept a communication to the rest of Caine’s domain about the status of The Spiderfell.  When confronted, the Harko attacked and one of Arroyo’s sons was struck down.  Since then the forests have echoed of magical conflict.

Scarabus Harko, the leader of House Harko, was struck down causing the rest of the House to flee.  Upon the arrival of Caines messenger, the fragmented House was gathered up and assembled with House Arroyo to be addressed by Caine (or messenger from Caine):

“I see that the pressure of this Province has weighed heavily upon your spirits.  I need loyal supporters with confidence in my actions to uphold the Domain.  Now, not just both families have suffered but my entire domain has suffered from these senseless acts between my two top houses.  I placed you here because I felt both houses could handle the intense pressure created in this place.  Because of my absense, I allowed this to happen and now it is my sad task to address the issue now.

House Harko has lost its leader.  Until a new one is chosen and given my approval a delegate from House Innus from Tireste will take charge.  House Harko will be relocated to northern Alamie to better understand its importance to the security of our domain. A representative from House Innus will also observe house Arroyo to ensure that the over goals of the domain are maintained.  There will be hard trials ahead as we attempt to better relations with the Spider and deal with these incursions from the Sword Mage.  No further actions between my great Houses will be tolerated.  Together we are strong.  Divide, we open ourselves up to our enemies.  Remember, we are not the enemy.”

The source in the spiderfell has since fallen and the Sword Mage has begun expanding his influence there.

JR Gets Shot

In a statement released today, Guildmaster Orthien Taine of Southern Anuire Shipping and Imports, Caelcorwynn Island stated:

Several nights ago, a massed breakout of various figures connected to the old regime in Osoerde presently held captive in Port Olonne was attempted.

Swiftly quashed, nevertheless five prisoners escaped over the gaol walls.  This gang were swiftly tracked down through the port town, and were soon surrounded.  When ordered to stop, two tried to break free and were promptly shot at.  Both died on route to an apocracy, where upon it was found that among the dead was the deposed duke Jaison Raenech.  His body is to be sent to Osoerde next season.

Kartathok's Angarr

A troll have been attacking goblin worshippers on their way to the Minions of Kartathok temple in Angarr. To protect them, the high priest himself, aided by his lieutenants, set out to kill the beast.

After finding the monster in a cave, they managed to kill it and burn its remains. Upon their return to the temple, they were celebrated as heroes and Kartathok's name was chanted throughout the following festivities.

Minkwood At War Again

Continuing his invasion last season, Prince Minkwood sent his entire army in to Thurazor this season, leaving the troops of Tuarhieval to guard his lands.  The fight was long and hard, and many elves and goblins died that day, but the unified forces of Goblins Triumph and Thurazor managed to repel the invaders.  The goblins of Thurazor are preparing themselves for the next invasion.

Trouble On The High Seas

Upon hearing of two successive attempts at his ships upon the high seas, Facellies Sloere devised a trap to lure the brigands in.  He sent his niece, Ana, a respected lieutenant within my guild, aboard one of their ships.  She and the ship’s captain sailed slowly along the trade route, giving the impression of a rich cargo.  Sure enough, the brigands attacked as soon as the ship was out of sight of His Majesty’s Navy.  Little did the brigands know however, that the ship’s hold was filled with some of my best fighting men.  Ana invited the brigands to come aboard, then tore them to shreds once they arrived.  Only 5 of the brigands survived the initial attack.  These 5 were promptly keelhauled back to Bhaine.

The Trouble With Traders

The Thane gave a fierce warning throughout the realm today as he stated, “I have always had an open door policy with trade.  May the best of mine be traded amongst the best of yours.  Unfortunately, a sad day approaches when I have no other alternative but to close my doors to the outside realms and begin to limit trade.  If the incursions upon Realm Policy continues by any guild inside Talinie, the outright destruction of all internal trade by foreign factors will cease.”

The Thane softened the statement by continuing, “Guilds who are not involved in the current incursions, should maintain the peace with other guilds by applying pressure.  As long as any entity is on Talinie soil, they are considered a part of Talinie.  If you are not willing to aid in defending Talinie, then you will no longer be a part of Talinie.

Predictions Come True: Worse Things Happen At Sea

In an unexpected turn of events ships sailing in to the ports of Osoerine and Tenerian grappled themselves to passing ships, some involved in the nations trade, hauled up the flag of the Gorgon and set fire to themselves whilst securing the grapples.  Many innocent people escaped, but a few ships were lost.  It is reported that the gorgon lost more ships than he damaged as nearby ships were sent in to contain the damage and rescue survivors.  Attacks on shipping around the Aquatic City have also been reported.  However, it is unknown if these are connected to the gorgon asssaults as there has been no word from the Sea Elves for some time now.

An attack on the largest temple in Blood skull Barony!

The loyal followers of Torazan were attacked in a middle of a important ceramony.  There were a goup of umber hulks who burrowed under the temple and attacked the followers.  After a short skirmish they backed leaving a total of 18 deaths.  This was a tremendous blow to the new leader of The Warriors of Torazan.   A new leader and one of his temples was attacked.  Many eyes went to Xivar who proclaims himself “The Warrior of Torazan”.  He was quick to respond and in a manner that surpised many.  He Gathered few of hisloyal men and went after the hulks.  They were gone for many days but Xivar returned Victorius.  With him was a group of Kobold who allegedly had raised a few Umber Hulks babies to use as an attack force.  The kobolds were of course sacrificed to the glory of Torazan after they had been put on the stake for a few days.  At the same time was there another sacrifice.  A Rjurikman who claimed he was only delivering a message from Yngvi of Hogunmark.  But Xivar The Warrior of Torazan knew that this man was only there to spy or assasin somebody and because of that he deserved to have his legs sawn off and the arms eaten off him and then thrown into a pot with burning oil.  All in the honor of Torazan!

War In Urga-Zai (Part 2)

The elves of lluabraight continued their invasion of Urga-Zai without the aid of the dwarves.  However, the combined forces of Hjolvaar and Kvigmar attempted to take two provinces in the north.  With their forces split on three fronts, whilst guarding a fourth the goblins found it hard to keep their ground.  With luck they managed to cripple the armies of Kvigmar and Hjolvaar, but lost another province to the armies of Lluabraight.  The future looks grim for the goblins.

King Varri Attacked!

The troops of Stjordvik were recently sent out to hunt for a mysterious anuirian who had attempted to kill King Varri and steal his bloodline.  A reward of 6000GP was offered to the man who captured him.  A unit of his men in Udvika captured the man with apparent ease and king Varri rushed to the scene to deal with him.  Moving with unexpected speed the man broke free of his bondage and recovered his magical spear from the guards.  He fought his way though many of the soldiers and tried to kill King Varri again!  They are reported to have fought for only a few minutes before more soldiers arrived on the scene and the man ran in to the wood of the barony, dissapearing without a trace.  The bounty still stands, along with a 2000GP reward to anyone who gives information leading up to his capture.

Riot in the heartlands

It was a bright day throughout the heartlands when a magical warding apeared over both the heartlands and three provinces of Elinie.  The populace did not seem at all worried until several days later.  Reports say that a bar fight was started in the province of Tornilen.  Bystanders say that the fight was started by a tradesman from Roesone complaining about events within his realm, he was then heard to insult Guilder Kalien.  The fight quickly spread throughout the tavern and spread to the streets.  What this reporter cannot understand is how this could have spread to so many seemingly happy provinces descending them into outright rebellion so quickly.  Some are calling for the return of Roesone, others for the return of Ghoere and still more wish to be returned to Mhoried. From what we can peace together all these provinces are now out of control, and all wish to part of a completely different realm.  This chaos seems only to have excited those in Medoere and Aerenwe as the public cry for the reunification of Roesone increases.  Hermedhie sent Hexxedhie to deal with the situation.

After a series of meetings between with the concerned residents, it was determined that the following actions would be taken.

1) Taxes will be lowered immediately,

2) It was agreed that if Daenal Roesone or one of his heirs emerged and wanted to reclaim his lands, this action would be taken as quickly as possible, and

3) If the second option fails to come to pass and the region is not presently involved in military conflicts, then all affected parties will work together to re-establish the country of Roesone.  These terms were found acceptable to both parties and the common folk agreed to stop their demonstrations. However, many people still think this is not enough and would prefer to see Roesone restored immediately.

Dwarven Dispute

The clans of Thickskull and Brasheads were traditional enemies. During the last month reports of bar brawls and duels fought between these two clans were a normal occurrence. This month no stories are being told of their fights but it is rumoured that Ruarch Rockhammer, long tired of their bickering, finally ended the dispute by offering the Thickskulls the rulership of the fort Magnar instead of fort Skullum, the object causing all the bickering. Clan Brasheads were pleased that they would remain the sole rulers in Skullum but clan Thickskulls were pleased to receive a new strongly built fort in Rivenrock.

Sir Mallen Returns

Citizens of Anuire were amazed today by the news that Sir Mallen is actually still alive. Apparently Lady Kudar Skeffrington received a message and rode out immediately with a contingent of knights.

A group of adventurer's have been reported to bring Sir Mallen back from deep inside the shadow world where they've been fighting to get out ever since Sir Mallen seemingly perished.

Sir Mallen is reported to be in a bad condition, almost unable to say anything.  The court healers are busy trying to cure the poison that seems to be deeply in his system.  LadyKudar was glad to see him returned safely and rewarded the party who returned him with around 4000GP.

Mad Old Emilio At It Again (AKA Patriarch Insane Ibn Armarni)

Following the lead of Guilder Kalien, Patriarch Emilio of Elinie has started to search his court for spies.  He resorted to his old technique of sending in a unit of paladins and testing for evil intent.  He is obviously obsessed with the idea that his court is full of dopplegangers and the whole world is out to get him.  We at the Anuire Argus always felt there was more to his supposed insanity than could be justified by any plot LPA had for him, and this continuance of his paranoia proves our point.  We have pitty for the residents of Elinie who must be ruled by this madman!  Down with the patriarch!  Boooo!  (Ed: This reporter was fired right after writing this article.  Please ignore him.  The doctor has prescribed him some dried frog pills and we hope they do the job.)

Haelyn And Elves

A reporter from the Argus happened upon a speech by the new Count and current head of the NIT, Siobhan Riedhie.  As the Priest stood outside the mighty Temple walls of NIT in Lindholme, Siobhan’s words rang out, “I stand here, leader of the national religion of Talinie.  This not only is a responsibility for Haelyn the mighty, but a responsibility for the people who follow him in Talinie.  For the past few seasons, constant strife from the outside of slowed this mighty realm.  I pledge my continuous effort to restoring Talinie and it’s people, in the name of Haelyn.  Let us begin the cleansing process until it is known that transgression of any kind will not be tolerated upon this devoted land of Haelyn!"

How the resident elves of Talinie feel about being devoted to Haelyn when it is a well known fact that elves do not worship gods is yet to be seen.

Treachery In The Barony

Some weeks before the signature of the Historic Peace Treaty with Rjuvik, there were movements inside the Barony that were everything but peaceful. In Hrukk province, strange assassins in the night launched the panic among peasant populations. Dead corpses started appearing in public places, in the middle of the night. Old men and new. Even children. No one was safe. However, every corpse had one thing in common. They all had inscriptions, cut in their skin with knifes and daggers, saying things like “The only good human is a dead human!” Hrukk province guards made inquires, at old goblin way, but they didn’t find a clue. The chief of the guard even lost his head (literally) before the mystery was solved. One day, an anonymous warning reached the (new) chief: There was a secret organisation that opposed the treaty signature. A public demonstration of force was scheduled in two-days time, and the brigands would try to set one of the city Temples a fire.

With the warning, Hrukk forces of law gained a new energy. Guards in disguise managed to infiltrate the demonstration. A brigade of Hrukk soldiers was put in alert and people were discreetly removed from the Temple vicinity. When the few madbrigands started raising a crowd, only the law forces appeared. The ‘Glorious Demonstration’ was reduced to a picnic, and the only fires alight were those where the brigands remains were turned into barbecue, with great amusement for the city guards.

Unification Of Haelyn Temples

Today in the Avelerine cathedral in the Province of Aerele in Diemed a monumental occasion has just transpired.  Apparently the two previously divided faiths of Haelyn known as the Western Imperial Temple of Haelyn and the Orthodox Imperial Temple of Haelyn have signed a holy writ of unification of the two temples.  They will remain separate entities only for administration and regional purposes.  This writ unifies the theology between the two faiths making the worship of Haelyn by their followers free from political borders.  The names of the temples shall remain for tax and income purposes but they now refer to their unified faith by the title of Temple of Haelyn in an attempt to bring stability to the regions under their influence.  Truly this is a good sign for the imperialists of things to come.

Mhoried Attacks Elinie

In an unexpected turn of events some of the Mhorien troops involved in occupying Markazor took a trip to Elinie in an attempt to take control of some provinces whilst the Patriarch is preoccupied.  Luckily they arrived late in the season so did not have much time to do much damage.  Thankfully the Patriarch had left a large number of troops behind in case of such an attack.  They were ordered to deal with the Mhorien troops and quickly managed to repel them.  Why the Mhor did this, and what the Patriarch plans to do about this is yet to be seen.

War In Urga-Zai (Part 3)

With the invading elves spread over the two occupied provinces, they continued in to Urga-Zai with the intent of taking a third before the season was over.  However, with the dwarves not making another attack, and Kvigmar and Hjolvaar's armies beaten, Dargal and Ohlaak were able to concentrate more troops on the elven front.  They stopped the elves from taking another province and took the fight to them, eventually reclaiming both of the already occupied provinces and forcing the elves back in to their homeland.  The goblins of Urga-Zai now, like their brothers in Markazor and Thurazor have to prepare for the certainty of more war next season.

Acident Prone Businessmen

Rumours say, that a trio of rogue businessmen were trying to undermine Gaelin Thuried´s authority in The Gaelin Thuried Trading Co.  But lady luck was on Mr. Thuried´s side. It seems that the trio was a clumsy group of accident-prone individuals.  The first one, Mr. Svaeg, met his death in a bizarre riding accident. It seems that Mr. Svaeg was riding his horse through the woods when he, somehow, got his neck tangled in a noose which was hanging idly from an old oak tree.  The second one, Mr. Janosch, met his tragic death when he accidentally cut his head off while shaving.  The third one, Mr. Ananias, died during breakfast. It seems that his dyslexic wife put arsenic in her pie, instead of raisins, killing them both.  Mr. Thuried´s grip on the Trading Co. is, therefore, as firm as ever.

Death of the Eyeless One

About a year ago some companions and I were traveling along the border of the Five Peaks, when suddenly we were attacked by a raiding party of Orogs from the Five Peaks.  When the battle was over only me and 2 of my companions were left alive.  We wished to seek vengeance against those that had attacked us.   So we decided to track down the regent and I would issue a blood challenge against him.  Being the only blooded person in my party I would issued the challenge.  I challenged him to a blood duel as soon as I could.  He stared at me a long time and said that he would accept the challenge as long as I would also bet my kingdom along with my blood line against his kingdom and bloodline.  Having no kingdom I accepted his offer.

The battle with the Eyeless One is still a painful memory. An I will not discuss it.  But I can say that the Eyeless Ones lieutenants were also killed by my companions when they tried to help their master.  I have been ruling the Five peaks in secret since then.  This was done to allow me the time to get the kingdom in order.  I because I am not a Wizard I have since given the sources to this kingdom to the one called the Dragon Lady.

Rumours

-------

"I heard that Boeruine was actually charmed by that wizard last season.  He hasn't been seen for months so I reccon he's gone to find her and help her.  He's under her spell, I tell you."

"Why are there so many humans in the Sielwode?  There hasn't been many humans in there for centuries and now the place is crawling with them.  I have lived there my entire life and I don't like it.  They come in, trample the plants, and hunt the animals.  Its not right" - heard from a Sielwode elf

"I hear that Sir Mallen's in a very bad way.  Apparently even the healer's attempts to cure the poison don't seem to work well.  He's going to be ill for at least another year!"

"I heard that the ruler of Mieres went to Albiele Island as the mist came down.  Apparently he was still there when it went back up.  He’s one of them shifty Eloele buggers so you can't trust him so its probably best if he don't come back."

"That mage Darkon has disappeared.  No one has seen him in almost 6 months!  I heard he was sent on a secret mission but some people more pessimistic than I say he vanished due to a failure while performing a particularly dangerous spell!  Some even those who blame other mages for this mysterious disappearing!  My cousin Djave saw him arguing with that Qurad al-Din, and the next day he was gone!  All for the best if you ask me.  One less mage for us to worry about."

"I heard the Patriarch is in a huff with the Argus.  Says he wants an official apology for callin' him mad!  Says he's thinking of cancelling his subscription!"

"I heard that lady Kudar has allied herself to Prince Minkwood.  She's letting him attack Thurazor unopposed, some say even funding him, in exchange for guaranteed safety for Dhoesone.  I bet Sir Mallen is gonna be pissed at that!  Unless his loving wife takes advantage of his weakened condition, and finishes off the job for Minkwood and Meadreale..."
